Family Affairs

I don't usually get into my brothers affairs, but everyone seems really up in arms about Law and Order: CI. I don't know what the production company is saying, but I did hear on the radio that they are saying that they gave Vincent and Kathryn the boot. All I know is that during a family vacation my brother told us that he wasn't renewing his contract. That he wanted to move on from the character, Goren. He was very grateful to be able to build such a wonderful character, but it was time. He also said that CI will be bringing him and Erbe back for special episodes in the future. Jeff Goldblum is doing a great job, and I wish him the best of luck.

Also, for those of you that have family members that need looking after but you can't afford in home care, there is a website called, "Friendly Jingle", its a group of folks who make daily calls and check up on the elderly and give them someone to talk to and something to look forward to every day.. its about $1 a day.

Check it out http://www.friendlyjingle.com

Thank you for clarifying the situation. I know we wish all the best to Vincent (and Kate) in their future projects, and it's understandable that Vincent feels it's time to move on, but for most of us, without him (and Kate) there is no LOCI.

Kind regards

Lizzie

Thank you for the information. The news was presented in such a way as to make it sound as if the three of them had been let go for financial reasons, and a fellow fan has a contact at NBC who pretty well confirmed this.

Honestly, Vincent makes the show, and there really is no point in their continuing without him.

Hi Elizabeth,

I have been a professional ‘lurker’ all over the internet for years. The anonymity that emboldens most, somehow paralyzes me, so I remain silent. But I have something I need to say.

Several years ago I discovered your blog quite by accident and was completely charmed. The caring and sharing between you and those who left comments was unlike anything I’d seen on the internet, then or since. Visiting was like going to a coffee klatch with old friends, and was occasionally the light of my day. I even ordered a bottle of wine.

But things changed. I saw how ugly the internet could be, and I know I missed most of it. You handled the situation with grace and restraint – much better than I would have. But the end result was that the blog changed, and the coffee klatch was gone.

Because of the economy (and life) we are having rough times. Many others are much worse off though. This post and the comments on your last post made me think back and wonder if things are going well for the folks I used to ‘spend time with.’ Please, give my best to them and their families.

Thank you for sharing your kind spirit in spite of trolls and weasels, and belated congratulations on your marriage. My best also, to you and yours.

Yes, thanks Elizabeth for telling us the truth about Vincent and Kathryn's leaving LOCI. I understand why Vincent wanted to leave. Any "job" gets old after awhile. But he did his so well!!

Thank you Mrs D'Onofrio from Germany for telling us what really happened.
The media on the internet really convey that they've been fired and that would have been unacceptable, because THEY ARE THE SHOW no matter how hard Jeff Goldblum will try (and I must say he really does a good job).
Thank God the german fans will have a little more time to get used to the fact that your brother and Mrs Erbe have left the show since over here Season 7 just began!
Certainly many of us will watch those guest appearances but it won't ever be the same again.
BTW, I love your blog (and not because you are the sister of Mr D'Onofrio).

Best regards to you and your family

Hi Elizabeth,
Hey thanks for sharing the truth about why Vincent is leaving LOCI. I am glad he has had such a long run on a very successful series. He has given all of us wonderful performances and I so appreciate his talent.

Let him know that we will be watching for whatever he does on the small or big screen. Recently I saw The Narrows. Good movie and nice to see him again.

You have such a talented family. You are a wonderful actress too. Since I am too far away to see you perform, I can only go on what you share here. Keep giving us updates on your work. Lots of us are rooting for you and your brother.

Sorry also that people can be so harsh. Thank you for hanging in there and sharing your life with us. It is a joy to read what is going on with you.

Thanks for sharing this with your brothers fans. We love and adore his character, but we know that he has more gifts and talents and he is expanding his horizons. We are sadden that we will not see "Bobby" each week and some of us, will not be watching LOCI because it won't be the same without him and his wonderful acting. He is what drew me to watch the show. I love Eames as well. Can't wait to see him back on big screen, where he began his career. He is a phenomenal actor and I have seen all of his movies - even if he had a brief part (Cadilac Records) because he is the most underated actor in Hollywood. I hope he shows them all what he's got. Love him and thank you for sharing the truth with us. (PS, give him a hug for me!!! lol!!!) I'll miss him!
